چکیده

Receivers based on channel equalization have proven to be one of the most promising candidates for terminal receivers in wideband code-division multiple-access (WCDMA) downlink. The channel equalizers provide multiple access interference (MAI) suppression, and thus ensure adequate receiver performance even with a high number of active users. However, the performance improvement provided by the equalizers in conjunction with a powerful forward error control (FEC) coding has been unclear. In this paper, the performance of adaptive equalizers is numerically evaluated with 1/3-rate turbo coding, and compared to the performance of the conventional Rake receiver. The numerical results show significant performance improvement over the conventional Rake receiver in a Rayleigh fading multipath channel. Turbo Coding and Power Control for Wcdma Downlink

The main air interface in the 3rd generation cellular mobile communications is based on wideband code-division multiple-access (WCDMA). In this networks the downlink capacity is expected to be more crucial than the capacity of the uplink due to the asymmetric capacity requirements, i.e., the downlink direction should offer higher capacity than the uplink [1]. Therefore, the use of efficient dow...

Turbo coded HSDPA systems with transmit diversity over frequency selective fading channels

Transmit diversity is one of the key contributions to the 3G (third generation) WCDMA (wide-band code division multiple access) systems to accommodate high data-rate applications, where spatial diversity is introduced into the signal by transmitting through multiple antennas. While turbo codes are well understood to be able to provide powerful error correction ability in a SISO (single input si...

Equalization in WCDMA Terminals

Conventional versions of linear multiuser detectors (MUD) are not feasible in the wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) downlink due to the use of long scrambling sequences. As an alternative, linear channel equalizers restore the orthogonality of the spreading sequences lost in frequency-selective channels, thus, suppressing multiple access interference (MAI) in the WCDMA downlink. In...

Performance of Adaptive Chip Equalization for the WCDMA Downlink in Fast Changing Environments

Cellular WCDMA systems are characterized by multiple access interference (MAI) and multipath interference (MPI). Thus, optimal receivers deploy the signal and channel parameters of all active users for detection of the desired data stream. In this paper receiver concepts for the WCDMA downlink are studied, that reduce interference without knowledge of the multiuser parameters. A promising conce...
